11-28-03  Glutt: Dear Amigo <Victor, I meant to say that I did not comment about petty corruption in my past postings about corruption. Mixing up the petty corruption with the major corruption only serves to confuse the issue.> this is exactly the problem because corruption starts and ends with simple things and simple people. Whenever corruption is widespread and touches very state you might be sure you will see it everywhere and petty corruption would be much higher in countries with major as you call it corruption & visa versa. Look, major corruption is impossible to eliminate, I guess developed world and of them EU are very good examples of this. What is important however is that when policemen on the road here were offered 1000-2000€ by one Russian (he simply gave them his wallet & told them to take as much as they wanted and he had around 2000€ cash with him)…they not only did not take but also warned him that they could have written in his report about the bribery attempt. I know Austria also has major corruption & had many scandals in the past, because it is socialistic country and politicians here retain very much of wealth and success. Still, because petty corruption is not seen here as something ordinary but contrary as an exception this country has less major corruption compared to Russia where for 1000€ bribe the road policemen would not only let you go but also would three times kiss your butt.

PS: hope this is the answer to your question, sorry if it took too long

11-27-03  victorn: ...and dr. guru is, of course, also gop. so anyone daring to make such a statement is a loser with an attitude, etc.

11-27-03  victorn: spal, specifically, you have a very gop perspective on things.

11-27-03  victorn: spal, it's a matter of interpretation. you have a very american perspective on things.

11-27-03  Cheetah: thank you Spal...

11-27-03  SPAL: Sell Your Bonds

11-27-03  SPAL: << 11-27-03 victorn: cheetah <what's your point on bush & adolph ???> his point is very obvious.>> no his attitude is obvious that is all.

<< it is unbelievable that a smart person like yourself does not understand his point. >> again all I see is attitude at work here.

11-27-03  victorn: amigo <accrued int from end of Feb to exch date at 9.5% - E> thanks. so it's 9.5% coupon from 2/27/03 until what date (what is the exch date)? and then 14% from exch date to 2/27/04, right?

11-27-03  amigo latino: Victor: Accrued-- I thought perhaps the accrued int from end of Feb to exch date at 9.5% - E or 10.5%-$ per year and from exch date to now 14% per year.

Why 105 ? because CESP wanted to give an extra incentive in the form of an increase in capital for those choosing 14%, 2011 bond.

I still do not understand the difference between the $ 11 and E 11 bonds carib and gsgaga are talking about.

11-27-03  victorn: cheetah <what's your point on bush & adolph ???> his point is very obvious. it is unbelievable that a smart person like yourself does not understand his point.

11-27-03  Cheetah: <….Despite the swell of opposition that preceded his ouster, Shevardnadze speculated that forces other than the protesters were involved.

He noted that U.S. ambassador to Georgia, Richard Miles, was posted in Yugoslavia before the overthrow of Slobodan Milosevic (news - web sites), and suggested the ambassador might have encouraged Georgia's opposition.

please transfer ambasador Richard Miles to Caracas...

11-27-03  Cheetah: gagagaga what's your point on bush & adolph ???

11-27-03  victorn: cheetah thanks for the advice.

11-27-03  Cheetah: victhorn if you are worried about a "melting" problem you should consult your good friend and buddy Advice55...

he is EQMS of "melting"...

11-27-03  victorn: The world's glaciers could melt within a century if global warming accelerates, leaving billions of people short of water and some islanders without a home, environmentalists said Thursday.

11-27-03  victorn: carib thanks. 1) how do you compute the 94 total? if this bond pays 14% coupon annually, then accrued should be around 10 pts or so (since end feb 03 to present: 9/12 X 14%). am i wrong? 2)why is it 105 nominal and not 100 nominal? 3) so on 2/27/04 i get paid 22 points, and my nom drops from 105 to 95. this means i am getting paid 12 points of annual coupon and 10 of capital. why am i being paid 12 pts of coupon instead of 14?

11-27-03  carib: The only interest in this CESP discovery is switching the $ bond into E. otherwise, it just means that the CESP 11E is now actually as cheap as we thought it was a few weeks ago, when it was in the low 80s...

11-27-03  carib: Victorn: assuming GSG is correct (I will check on monday) I guess one would pay about 94 now for CESP 11E (all inclusive for 105 nom) and on feb 27 you get about 22 in cash and 95 nom left in 2011 14%

11-27-03  victorn: amigo, i don't mean to create confusion by my use of accrued, as i mean it in a standard way. i just mean the accumulated interest i have to pay in advance to the seller to compensate for the # of days since last coupon payment. for example, when i buy a regular bond, i get a trade ticket that reads: principal x, accrued (105 days) y, total: x+y.

11-27-03  amigo latino: Gsgaga, carib and k1: Any answers to Victor’s questions about CESP11?

Also what does accrued mean? ……from what date?

Also how much the seller at 86 will receive?

11-27-03  SPAL: <those who own economically sensitive equities riding the greatest waves of secular transformational growth will increase their wealth 50%, 100% or 200%+ over the next 12-18 months>

More likely than not.

11-27-03  Mon: I totally agree with Wally and Glutt in that there is still a downside momentum in Abu bonds. Sold my '08 to buy more '25 when the time is right. C-BANKER: My best regards to you too. It was a pleasure meeting you and hope to smoke cigars with you again.

11-27-03  victorn: amigo, thanks. 1) 86 + accrued, right? 2) how much do i get paid for this 86 + accrued (that i pay right now) on feb 2004 (how much from coupon and how much extra)?

11-27-03  amigo latino: Victor: Price of CESP:11 euro : 86

http://www.comdirect.de/index.html?...

11-27-03  victorn: amigo what is the price of the cesp € 11?

11-27-03  amigo latino: <gsgaga5: carib on CESP Euro 11 "The Eurotz issue is now 5 points cheaper!" Exactly and most people do not realize that!……>

1)After feb 27 04 CESP 11 and CESP 08 may possibly trade at the same price since accrued interest portability characteristic will be the same for both bonds. ???

2) gsgaga: thanks for the reply concerning payments to CESP 11 .

11-27-03  gsgaga5: Since we are talking about Hitler and Bush at the same time I cannot resist to give you the following quote:

An evil exists that threatens every man, woman and child of this great nation, we must take steps to ensure our domestic security and protect our homeland."

Adolf Hitler, on the creation of the Gestapo in Nazi Germany

Not that I think that Bush is a like Hitler, but propaganda methods sure have not changed much.

11-27-03  gsgaga5: @amigo latino on CESP Euro 11
"When feb 27 04 comes, how much total interest ( plus whatever other amount) much I will get paid for each bond of 1050 euros?"

You will get paid about Euro 120,xx in acrued interest, which is about 12 % and 100 Euro repaiment of the bonds. So the bond will have a remaining value of Euro 950. After feb 27, 04 the bond will be just normal except for the face value.

11-27-03  moneypenny: Vic: <unbelievable how eurocentric americans can be.> What do you have in mind?

11-27-03  moneypenny: Thank you, Primo.

11-27-03  moneypenny: Carib: Quite right. It has always been merely pretty, and these days, with all its litter and dog-doo, not even that.

11-27-03  gsgaga5: carib on CESP Euro 11
"The Eurotz issue is now 5 points cheaper!" Exactly and most people do not realize that!

11-27-03  Patient-Trader: Glut, just on a side-note: the Germans like to point out that Hitler was Austrian and the Austrians like to point out that the Nazis were Germans :-)

Anyway, it is well known that the Vienese are crooked as hell - Vienna is already Balkans. Don't waste your money on lawyers - regard the 33 Euros as a tuition fee and walk to the shop personally next time.

11-27-03  amigo latino: <Pakistan-India: Same game, new rules

A ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India along three borders is welcome news in itself, but given Pakistan's deep commitment over the years to cross-border militancy, from the army through to the intelligence services, it is likely all that will change are the rules of the game. - Syed Saleem Shahzad

http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Front_... >

An interesting article, especially coming from a person who normally writes articles critical of India(ex: insinuations that India could have been the likely source of clandestian nuclear technology help to Iran)

11-27-03  victorn: leo, please don't buy too much dr as i need this bond to continue dropping to less than 70.

11-27-03  victorn: unbelievable how eurocentric americans can be.

11-27-03  carib: MP: when was Belgium ever great? When Julius Ceasar named the belgians as "the wildest of barbaric tribes"? Or when Leopold owned Zaire as personal property? I will ask my friend Otto von Absburg what he thinks about the comparison....

11-27-03  Primo: ah no MP, he was born in Hamburg but "settled" in Vienna.

11-27-03  moneypenny: Brahms, too? Thought he was Tschermann. Interesting detail.

11-27-03  leo: On DR 70 % of the public external debt is to multilateral...so this reinforces the theory that eurobonds restructuring is not on the cards.

11-27-03  Primo: well, anyway Strauss, Haydn, Brahms and Shubert were Austrians ... and Beethoven was sent ti Vienna to develop his skills. Glutt you have a lot to be proud of ...:)

11-27-03  moneypenny: Makes me wonder if he considered himself Austrian.

11-27-03  victorn: mp <Didn't Mozart hang around in Vienna a lot, however?> and this makes him austrian? interesting.

11-27-03  moneypenny: Good stuff - but as of today, Salzburg is only reachable via Austria. Ergo, all things Salzburger are Austrian.

Didn't Mozart hang around in Vienna a lot, however?

11-27-03  inquirer: Was Mozart (born Salzburg, 27 January 1756; died Vienna, 5 December 1791)Austrian? No, because Salzburg was not part of Austria during Mozart lifetime.

By c.798 Salzburg was the seat of an archbishopric, and for almost 1,000 years it was the residence of the autocratic archbishops of Salzburg, the leading ecclesiastics of the German-speaking world. They became princes of the Holy Roman Empire in 1278 and wielded their power with extreme intolerance. In the late 15th cent. the Jews were expelled, and in 1731–32 some 30,000 Protestants migrated to Prussia after a period of severe persecution. Secularized in 1802, Salzburg was transferred to Bavaria by the Peace of Schönbrunn (1809). The Congress of Vienna (1814–15) returned it to Austria.

11-27-03  victorn: amigo <I never saw postings dealing with this kind of corruption>, i have bad news (about corruption) for you... you will discover this bad news for yourself when you move out of dr to another country.

11-27-03  moneypenny: Austria is kind of like Belgium - once great, it is now more corrupt than it looks, steeped as it is in socialism and decay and as a result, firmly obscure. Sad.

11-27-03  Advice55: Japan Nikkei, closed it´s last gap yesterday....

Now, can easly dive again....

SPX, overbought again, who pays up, will make the day of shorts that covered just to sell again....

Bovespa at historical highs, IFR at the historical highs. Weekly IFR of bovespa has never been so overbought before, it is a record! Uau! It just broke through the roof! One has to be very matcho to buy stocks up here!

11-27-03  amigo latino: <Glutt: vic, recently I was ordering one small thing on I-net here ……..>

It is troublesome(not to say shocking) that it happened in Austria. But in comparing with another country, one has to compare the frequency…… how widespread. All drugs have bad side effectsm but what is relevant is the seriousness and the frequency.
