04-16-04  wally: <spurs> your posting is definitely the best of the week! :~)

04-16-04  spurs: <the greatest pie-in-the-sky of the millennium. It's like the "true" and "new" communism of Mao Zedong as opposed to stalinist "degeneration>

Are you still sore about the siege of Vienna?

I suspect that MP might be wrong in arguing that Islam is gentle. I also suspect that no sensible person would even attempt to argue that Christianity is "gentle". Pogroms, inquisitions, genocides, and crusades.

I get a bit tired of all this bollox vilifying an entire religion. How many muslims are there engaged in terrorism that you feel you can argue for the eradication of Muslims? If you get your wish, which is the next religion you would like to see wiped off the face of the map?

I vote for Buddhism. Bloody peaceniks, always self-immolating when faced with a few tourists in uniforms. Im with Ozy. If we dont wipe em out now, we will be faced with a plague of Richard Geeres wondering around boring us with their concerns for Tibet.

Next we can move on to the Catholics. Im catholic too, but Im tired of hearing about Boston priest abusing little boys. We should wipe out the backward tossers, and their medieval doctrines. Infallible my arse.

Actually its quite a liberating feeling - advocating genocide. Now that Ozy has converted me to his cause I feel so much better. Now who can we wipe off the face of the earth next? I've got it - a group no one has ever persecuted. Lets take out Israel! It will solve the middle east problem, and we can put the Bible best Christian miltia in the promised land and let them take on the Palestinians. Three birds with one stone!

Ozy, you are a true genius!

Kill the terrorists ! But let me be the one to define who is a terrorist cos I am the true faith!

04-16-04  Primo: <No entries found that match <islamist>> - Webster on-line.

04-16-04  ozymiani: <carib> <Islamism is an ideology which maintains that Islam is not only a religion, but a system that also governs the politicial, economic and social imperatives of the State>.

wrong.

the correct definition is:

<Islam is an ideology which maintains that Islam is not only a religion, but a system that also governs the politicial, economic and social imperatives of the State>

04-16-04  ozymiani: <moneypenny>< true and gentle Islam>: the greatest pie-in-the-sky of the millennium. It's like the "true" and "new" communism of Mao Zedong as opposed to stalinist "degeneration".

Personally, I prefer 'cockroaches' 'vermin' and 'bugs' to describe murderous fanatical soulless, suicidal perverters of true and gentle Islam, but I find these descriptors easily applicable to any religious fanatics, too. >

I feel the sane way about the supposedly "Christian" thugs, who murder doctors. These people think they are the representatives of the "one true faith". And so they feel they have a right to kill those who offer women the right to choose abortion. Of course they are not terrorists. Because ...... Im not sure, someone else will have to explain.

I know Karl Rove views them differently. His term for this group is "Core Support". Im not sure why he calls them this.

04-16-04  moneypenny: Wally: 'Islamist' is the correct, polite, word for 'Islamofascist.' It has been used for years by scholars.

04-16-04  moneypenny: Vic: <Polish military officials responsible for security in part of southern Iraq are arguing hard against taking Shi'ite leader Moqtada al-Sadr by force in Najaf> It's because they want to just shoot him. Feeding a scumbag like this is a drag.

04-16-04  carib: <GAZA (Reuters) - On the shrapnel-pitted street where an Israeli missile killed Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, shopkeeper Mahmoud Ismail clings to the tenuous hope of rescuing the cause of Palestinian statehood.

His optimism hangs on dialogue between Palestinian President Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement, its Islamist rival Hamas and other factions on a unified government for Gaza and a new peace policy.>

the word <islamist> is obviously an <invention> by Reuters. Clearly...a <zionist plot>! Reuters is a well known <zionist press agency> :-)

04-15-04  mush-mush: <every society can tolerate a certain level of <corruption> and <free riding>, but over a certain level systematic corruption and theft become destructive factors> One famous example of behaviourship of markets in the case of the theft is the behaviour of the American white head eagle. There is a common wide spread stealing in their community, which has its own multi-year period. It always starts on the low level when about 95 % of eagles are fishing, while rest from their population (5%) are concentrating themselves only on simple stealing of already cached up fishes from others (its interesting, that this is approximately the lowest possible level of crime in the eagle population - its never zero). But when others <working> eagles see this easiest level of live (simple economy - lower expenditure and higher income), than they follow the habit and the figure of thefts is slowly increasing up to the moment, when (in 5 - 7 years) there is one fisherman for one theft. But at that moment usually all community is falling on the bring of the hungry (low income for all). Than comes the magic of the market, and its self cleaning regulation. From the next fishing season, the total majority of eagles (cca95%) is returning to active fishing again. Otherwise, thefts are understanding that they can get more by conventional work than by robbery, <while some level of banditism is optimal anyway, because it is keeping the <productivity> on needed level in the whole community>. Biologists are explaining this behaviour as <highly positive> evolution orientated, which helps to <separate weak from strong> and thanks to it to <reinforce> the all eagle community.

All this has some similarities in human behaviour with multinumerous examples from American robber barons to current Russia. What is aside, is stagnation-full black Africa - where they probably never heard about American eagles - meanwhile their own one prefer one to one (fishing - stealing) ratio forever. What takes of (f.e.) Venezuela, I still dont know what kind of eagle they have.

04-15-04  victorn: i thought that the middle east was now more secure.

WASHINGTON, April 15 - The United States ordered nonessential diplomats out of Saudi Arabia on Thursday and warned all Americans they should leave, citing fresh signals that attacks had been planned.

04-15-04  carib: Vic: yes, US online brokers do require a W8. if you have no problems with that, use them. The perfect solution...trades executed at 0 cost, with 0 spreads, 0 taxes and 100% privacy...is still unknown to me. We live in an <imperfect> world, and must adapt. This is mostly an EMB-HYB forum. a perfect solution for those securities would already be great.

04-15-04  carib: Merlino: precisely: efficient and transparent markets are beneficial for all...except <monkeys>!

04-15-04  victorn: carib most of my bonds are traded in the u.s., even if i don't have an acct thete (or in an offshore american institution). but i do like to use discount online brokers for stocks and futures, and this requires a w8.

04-15-04  carib: Vic: <how does the US broker know?> how does a monkey know, when another monkey sells him a certain security? all he knows, is that their institutions have agreements and trading lines that make sure trades will be honored. If you make a mistake, and sell something you do not have...you will have to buy it somewhere else...or pay.

04-15-04  Merlino: Carib: <My ideal is still to set up a system that can be easily used by other Colores. But this for the time being is just an ideal. I hope next year it will no longer be. > Hope so, will surely be much appreciated by colores. As you know many if not most of us suffer with our current bond brokers

04-15-04  carib: Vic: for the time being, I am talking <taylor made solutions>. Personally, I am no professional taylor, only a customer.

04-15-04  carib: Merlino: I do not use an on-line broker...but this is only for my private reasons. The point I was trying to make with Victorn is that, even if I am not a genius, or a <godzillionaire> I have easily solved the problem of trading in the US without having an account there. I am talking bonds, which is more difficult than stocks. If I managed, my guess is other can. I am not a wizzard. My ideal is still to set up a system that can be easily used by other Colores. But this for the time being is just an ideal. I hope next year it will no longer be.

04-15-04  Merlino: Carib-Vic:<and futures brokers too> Yes

04-15-04  victorn: carib, yes i understand.

<Specially to trade stocks I guess USA good online brokers are unmatched by offshore brokers> and futures brokers too. this is what i meant.

04-15-04  Merlino: Carib: <04-15-04 victorn: carib <but this has nothing to do with <brokers>, rather with <custodians>> not if you need to trade once in a while, and the fast execution is important. > Yes, this is the point. Specially to trade stocks I guess USA good online brokers are unmatched by offshore brokers. You can find good stock brokers in EU but that is not off shore of course. Also perhaps in CH but costs are higher. Bonds and its custody are a totally different matter, although, or I am mistaken ? Any good and inexpensive online stock broker in Lux to trade USA stocks that you know about?

04-15-04  victorn: carib is that available for all markets? bonds, stocks, futures? and how does your u.s. broker know for sure that you really hold that position?

04-15-04  carib: Victorn: today you are rather hard. Yes, you can.

04-15-04  carib: Victorn: bottom line: participants in <Fiji meetings> normally learn things that non-participants do not know. :-)

04-15-04  victorn: carib we are not talking about cap gains, which doesn't matter. we are talking about paying taxes on dividends and the requirement to play with the available loophole if you receive such dividends offshore, which obviously requires custody to be offshore. but then if the custody is offshore, can you still sell in ny in a hurry? even if the offshore location is closed at the time?

04-15-04  carib: Yes you can. I just did it at 5:25 PM new york time, today april 15 2004.

04-15-04  victorn: carib didn't you say that custody is what counts? if you need a u.s. broker to sell in a hurry, can you do it even if custody is in another country, which perhaps is closed at the time?

04-15-04  carib: Victorn: to clarify. A <capital gain> implies selling expensive something you earlier bought cheaper. The fact that such <gain> is taxed or not, has nothing to do with the location of the broker or bank that bought and later sold the security on your behalf. If it had capital markets would not work in the integrated manner in which they still do. So, you can trade using a US based intermediary or not. But this has no tax consequences per se.

04-15-04  victorn: it's unlikely that greenspan will be raising rates by august. so after he gives his non-optimistic testimony next week, will the u.s. bond market recover along with the €, and perhaps brasil?

When Alan Greenspan gives testimony before Congress next week on the US economy, investors will be listening even more carefully than usual for hints on the outlook for US interest rates.

Following a string of strong data in March, futures markets now price in virtual certainty that the Federal Reserve will have raised interest rates by a quarter point by its August meeting.

04-15-04  victorn: "Going into Najaf will be a disaster, it will make the main Shi'ite leaders turn away from us," Poland's Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper quoted a senior diplomatic source as saying. "If Sadr gives up on violence, we should be talking with him. We want to talk with anyone in Iraq who doesn't shoot at us."

04-15-04  carib: Wally: you can agree or disagree with that idea, and you can also deny it exists...but that does not change the facts. I can declare that AIDS never existed, and it's a zionist plot. However, that is unlikely to protect me if I catch it.. :-)
