09-17-04  amigo latino: <I can't believe he would want the Chechen rebeels to look so bad, so can we please have some hard proof he really said it?......>

The US cold war warriors(mainly from State and Defense depts),before Sept 11,04 considered terrorist atrrocities as liberation struggles, especially, when the victim nations are Russia and India. Since many of the terrorist bosses were trained in the American inspired , financed and armed terrorists camps located in Pakistan and Afganistán, the cold war warriors considered the human carnage inflicted by the terrorists as the price to be paid for the <freedom>. Ofcourse, since Sept 11 the thinking has changed somewhat. Somehow some in the US give the impresión that they consider terrorism is totally unacceptable when it is directed against US, but are ambivalent when directed against Russia and India.

09-17-04  carib: Victorn: it's up to the russians to decide if they think like me or not. Personally, I am sure some of them think like me and others do not. Such is the beauty of freedom of thought.

09-17-04  victorn: carib <pro chechen> vs. <pro-democracy>. this is the kind of thing that russians should determine by themselves. but i bet that they probably don't think like you do on this matter. :-)

09-17-04  PaxWax: <Chechen rebel leader Shamil Basayev said he had ordered...> ~ Is he really stupid enough to have ordered such a thing and then to ADMIT it? I can't believe he would want the Chechen rebeels to look so bad, so can we please have some hard proof he really said it?

09-17-04  carib: Vic: I wrote <pro chechen>... not <pro-democracy>. It's very different, IMHO.

09-17-04  victorn: mp <I think the mean strike-back-hard snake-like irrationality would take over.> ...until the mean decide to run away like rabbits as in vietnam. :-)

09-17-04  victorn: mp are westerners (americans included) terrorists? :-)

MOSCOW (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin accused the West of indulging terrorists on Friday, just hours after a Chechen warlord claimed responsibility for a wave of deadly attacks in Russia and threatened more. "A patronizing and indulgent attitude to the murderers amounts to complicity in terror," Putin said, widening a rift between Russia and the West over how to deal with Chechen rebel violence.

Shortly before, Chechen rebel leader Shamil Basayev said he had ordered the Beslan school siege in southern Russia in which more than 320 hostages were killed, half of them children, and threatened more attacks by any means he saw fit.

"We have long warned about the threat of terrorist attacks, but our voice has not been heard," Putin told an international meeting of city mayors.

"Moreover, we faced double standards in the attitude toward terrorism," he said, repeating charges the West has been two-faced by giving asylum to top Chechens and urging Moscow to negotiate with rebel leaders but rejecting the possibility of dialogue with Osama bin Laden.

09-17-04  Fox: GGAL is up 2.27% today

PD: GGAL ticker for Grupo Galicia in NYSE

09-17-04  carib: Wally: Cleaning lady in my mountain house charges 11 € an hour, and does not speak <urdu> :-(

09-17-04  savonarola: pana .... GGAL is <THE> thing to buy. The market is misscalculating the YTM and the YtoCall in the 2019. I have the yield calculator from Citigroup and at 78% it is 15% and not 14.5% as some dealers say.

If 15% YTcall is not a beauty, then I have no clue what a beauty is. That thing below par is typical <jurassic> stupidity.

09-17-04  wally: <amigo / primo> my Hindi knowledge is very limited as hardly anybody here, excepts some pundits, is able to speak pure and correct Hindi. as lingua franca Hindustani, a mixture of ~ 40% Hindi, 30% Urdu, 20% Punjabi and 10% english is commonly used in northern and central India. the dravidian south of course refuses categorically to use anything else than either their own tongue-breaking languages or English.

what i am trying hard is to improve my Urdu to read and fully understand ancient as well as modern Urdu poetry which in most of the cases is presented in form of songs. btw, goog Urdu teachers are hard to come by and they charge fancy fees (something like US$ 2.75-3.50 an hour if you want them to come to your home to teach) and some impertinent ones are even asking for an additional $ 0.50 for transportation per session :~))

09-17-04  carib: bot some Vitro 07 yesterday. now offered 1 point higher

09-17-04  carib: niK:

09-17-04  panasonic: I know Leo, but "maybe" we can buy same biuties at lower prices in few weeks?

09-17-04  leo: The problem right now is that if you divorce you don't find other biuties!!

09-17-04  panasonic: <Vally> wondering if time to divorce from Brazilian biuties?

09-17-04  panasonic: Gracias Savo!

09-17-04  wally: thank you dear <Monkeys> and special thanks to our esteemed ANAL-zysts for forecasting the interest rate apocalypse and advising us "hands off long maturities!" thus enticing to buy and increase long maturities.

09-17-04  savonarola: pana.. regarding GGAL it is more a question of what can be found. The 19 seems to be bid only. Very small amounts on the offer side if any.

The 14 is liquid. Lattest 63.-63.75

09-17-04  savonarola: nik...<veni 18 (old)> bid 126 .. offer I do not know.

However it should trade 10 points higher to be in line with the other 18s.

09-17-04  Primo: Amigo: i dont know very much about the value of Hindi and of course Prof. Wally knows better (it relates to many other things like configuring power electric devices within a house or most of investmnet cases). I've just pulled Glutt's legs - he is liviving in the german speaking environment for so long and is lazy enough to learn just basic German. Have a nice WE. Hope Ivan hasnt done much harm...

09-17-04  niktash: Hi Guys
I need some help/info.I bought Vitro 2013 last year at about 96.I thought it would be a good bond to clip for a long time.I think the bond has fluctuated between 90 and 96 since it was issued in Nov last year.Suddenly the price seems to have dropped to 85 yesterday.Does anyone have any advice/suggestions on this bond? Any recent research available? Any bad news out on this company recently? Is it a buy/sell/hold?? Any views or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much and sorry for the long posting.

09-17-04  niktash: Savo.Ven 18 the sic bond that only you and vic like.I like it too!I have a lot of it.It's YTM is higher than Ven 27 or Ven 34 and maturity is shorter.Latest prices please??

09-17-04  Fox: <but works even less than the normal one ...> hahahahah!!!

Spalito compadre!!! you just made me remember a head trader I had in ´95, he hated antyhing that had to do with investment banking, specially this sort of field trips my boss (APB) used to force us to go were some corporate psycologhists would have us work in teams to strenghten corporate culture blablablabla....huuhhhhh (fingers in my mouth) anyways this guy bought a little notebook & he wrote every single Investment Banking phrase he heard during years!!!!

He would go in to the trading room reading the notebook making no sense at all, one day in SP our boss´s father (EB) was in the trading room & he came in as always reading his <koran>! EB thought the guy was on drugs @ the moment didnt seem funny today it does!! ;-)

09-17-04  amigo latino: <Primo: Still after all these years you'd regret that you'd tried to learn German so hard instead of Chineese and Hindi:)

Primo: IMO, For Indians Hindi is a useless language (except perhaps moving from one place to another in India with a hungry stomach and empty pockets). Hindi is not a language for sciences

A ticket for a good job in India is proficiency in English. Shortly German could also be a very useful language in India. Also, learning English and European languages would help Indians to migrate(a dream for many Indians)

Many Hindi advocates in India are hypocrites who speak English at home, send their children to English médium schools in India or abroad, and possibly have children who are living in US or Europe.

(Ofcourse Wally is more competent on the subject matter).

09-17-04  SPAL: <Typical Investment banker right? > yes very much, but works even less than the normal one ...

09-17-04  Fox: < SPAL: < Confirms my view for the reason of his appointment. > it is as usual Savo correct. ... the guy is smooth and on the surface just a bit better than average ... that is why bankers /politicians like him .>

Typical Investment banker right?

Nice words... but what about facts?
