GOOD FOR DELTA..AND FOR... "DANNY"
question is, what will be left and what is it worth ???
OIL crashing

After nearing two-year lows in late October, shares of power company Calpine gained more than 55% in November. The stock gained 6.59% yesterday, after the firm announced an agreement with General Electric (nyse: GE - news - people ) to build a power plant based on the latter's new gas-turbine technology, dubbed the H System. The plant is expected to become operational in 2008 and will provide 775 megawatts, enough power for almost 800,000 homes, according to a press release. Earlier this month, hedge fund Staro Asset Management, a convertible arbitrage specialist, said it acquired a 5% stake of Calpine common stock, according to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filings.

<Southern Nostalgia and Muscle Car Shootout
The Cloud Boys "Reign" on Bradenton Motorsports Park By Julian Frazier
The Cloud boys rolled into Bradenton Motorsports Park and washed away the competition in A/Gas and B/Gas. Clarence and Bill were hard to handle at the Southern Nostalgia and Muscle Car Shootout this past weekend and Clarence made it a point to let it be known "Who His Daddy Is!" Bill’s blue B/Gas Chevy II seemed to be on steroids this weekend as he was running and launching harder than normal. The little Chevy II leaving the line like a startled tomcat. Likewise, Clarence seemed to be on a mission, as his program appeared to be more aggressive than normal, from his tree chopping reactions to his 30-degree sideways on the chip burnouts. Ironically, Bill ran under the index in both qualifying sessions and wound being number 8 with the faster ET although he was able to reel the Chevy II in for eliminations. Qualifying began with the B/Gas cars doing the Boo-Ga-Loo-Ski down the stripe. Bob Busch in his chopped top 64’ Dodge A100 van grabbed the number 1 spot with a dead on 6.008, while Keith George secured the number 2 position with a 6.13 lap. The 3rd and 5th positions were locked up by the father and son team of Jack and Chris Muenzer. This is really a cool pair in their pair of 1950 Oldsmobiles. I hope I have the zest and enthusiasm for life and racing when I get close to Jack’s age; he’s a wild man! Spot number 4 was snagged by Billy Holtz driving Steve Lewis’s blue former NHRA class winning Anglia with a 6.35 shot. Number 6 was held by Mike Coger and his nosebleed inducing 39’ Plymouth with an off pace 6.57. Mike was experiencing some mechanical woes that would sideline him for the weekend. That was really unfortunate, as I was poised on the starting line waiting to catch one of those 5-foot bumper scrapers! Due to Mike’s mechanical woes another of the Steve Lewis group, Alan Smith filled in for Mike with his beautiful multi-hued Willys pickup. Number 7 in the line up was Steve Lewis in his street legal, blown, straight axled, aluminum interiored, power windowed, air conditioned 55’ Chevy with a 7.07. The 55 seem to have some fuel issues that seemed to slow it down about ¾ of a second; things would be better on race day. I have to comment on Steve and his hired gun Billy Holtz. These guys remind of the characters in Car-Toons magazine from back in the 60’s and 70’s, gearheads from birth. These guys epitomize gear heads, hot rodders, etc., the people yo’ mama warned you about…loud cars, loud music, burnin’ rubber, yankin’ gears! It was great meeting you guys! The baddest boy in the bunch today was Bill Cloud qualifying number 8 with an under the 6.00 index 5.81 pass. It just looked like Bill had a fresh can of "Whup Butt" and was waiting to open it up on somebody; he did! A/Gas Qualifying:
A/Gas started out with another Cloud lurking in the shadows. Roger McConnell in the Mighty Mouse Anglia qualified number 1 with an off the trailer 5.31 on the 5.30 index. Next in line was Clarence the ThunderCloud in his aero nosed 41 Willys a hair width away with a 5.32. Rumor has it that young Codie was overheard asking Clarence if it was true that Roger was his Daddy! Supposedly Clarence commented "he was going to show who the Daddy was". Next on the ladder was Steve Scott in his absolutely vicious blown big block Henry J roaring down the track with a 5.33 pass that flat shocked me. He made his qualifying pass and seemed to be on a good run when all of a sudden the engine went silent…I thought he broke. After what appeared to be a couple of seconds watching him coast down the track the scoreboard lit up on his side with a 5.33 on it. Steve, you much have been on one serious pass…that thing is stout! The number 4 spot was occupied by Nick Veckesser in the Outlaw Motorsports 37 Chevy…Still Doin’ Time. Nice ride. Nick busted off a 5.60 lap to solidly plant himself in the field. Next was Danny Austin in his 50’ Anglia. Danny wrapped up the points championship in B/gas and decided to slide down into A/Gas for a visit. His mucho capable crewchief Gilton Almond gave him a squirt of N20 and got him into the field with a 5.87. The balance of qualifying was a race to see who could slow down enough to get under the index. David "Big Wig" Wiggins was next with a too quick 5.26 in the eye scorching yellow, Lenco shifted and muffled 37’ Chevrolet. It’s really cool listening to this thing make a pass as you can hear all the miscellaneous mechanical noises because it’s so quiet. Riding into the 7th spot was David Goodson in the Alabama Outlaw, 69’ Camaro roadster, another awesome car. You can see pictures of it around the website. David managed to do the Fred Flintstone footbrake routine and slowed the Outlaw down to a 5.22 to set himself in the field. Some Epsom salts and a foot massage and he’ll be fine…. Maybe some Kevlar socks. The number 8 spot went to Gerald Baker in his "that things got a Hemi" 41’ Plymouth Deluxe. Gerald had the misfortune of having a valve seat fall out of the head when he fired the engine to warm it up…better at idle in the pits than at 8500 rpm in the lights! John Schwemler in the Strip Teaser Anglia subbed for Gerald in eliminations, we were glad to have him run with us. John has a beautiful car too! Once again due to some technical difficulties I will give the round by round pairings in eliminations but not the ETs posted by each car, I’m gonna’ get this fixed! Round 1 B/Gas:
Bad boy Bob Busch took the "red eye" against Alan Smith’s Willys pickup, an outstanding 6.008 down the tubes. At least we know he was trying! Jack Muenzer in his 50" Olds Fastback was up against Steve Lewis in his "cool and comfy" blown 55’ Chevy. The Chevy seemed revitalized after a good nights rest and laid one on the Olds for the win. Next up was Keith George in his 33’ Willys Town Delivery against Chris "the kid" Muenzer (as his dad calls him) in the 50’ Olds Business Coupe. Keith and the Willys got the best of the Olds for the win. The next pair was Billy Holtz against Bill Cloud with Bill getting his Chevy II slowed enough to take the win. Round 2:
Alan Smith and the Willys pickup were paired against Steve Lewis and the 55’ Stovebolt. The mighty Willys bested the Chev-ro-let for the win, I think he should have turned off the a/c this round. Keith George and the Town Delivery lined up against Bad Bill Cloud and came up on the short end against the Chevy II moving Bill into the final against Alan Smith. Round 3:
B/Gas Final, everyone’s’ on their feet, it’s the B/Gas money run. You know the results of this one already. Bill took home the goodies over Alan Smith. Hey, 12 months and everybody gets to do it again! A/Gas Eliminations
Round 1:
Due to the points being locked up by Mighty Mouse, the boys in A/Gas decided they wanted to take off the gloves, dump the index and duke it out. First up was Roger "Mighty Mouse" McConnell against Danny Austin in the Red Hot Ryder. As mentioned before Danny who won the B/Gas championship moved into A/Gas to visit. Danny’s visit was a little short as he had to run the number qualifier in first round…'nuff said. The next pair was David Goodson and the Alabama Outlaw against Steve Scott and the Huffin’ Henry J. From my vantage point, it appeared the Henry J crept in the staging beams and turned on the red bulb…. What a shame, this should have been one bad race! It looks like the Outlaw knocked off a 5.14 solo lap. The Thunder Cloud and Big Wig rolled into the water next for their asphalt cha’ cha’. I’d guess Big Wig had his tune up a little soft as he ran a 5.29 lap against Cloud’s 4.93. Next up was Nick Veckesser in the Outlaw Motorsports 37’ Chevy against John Schwemler in the Strip Teaser Anglia. It looked like the Strip Teaser caught an injection infection at the line as the engine seemed to load up before the launch which allowed Nick to scoot down the track ahead of him for the win. Round 2
Round 2 brought the Outlaw up against the Mighty Mouse. Roger tried to push the tree a tick but it was a tick too much and handed the round to Mr. Goodson in the Alabama Outlaw. Next in line was Clarence Cloud’s 41 Willys against Nick V in the bad black 37’ Stovebolt. The Stovebolt put up a valiant fight but the Willys was way strong and took the win. Well folks it’s time! Already told who won but it’s still a story worth telling. The Thunder Cloud and the Outlaw lined up for the final showdown. Clarence was already hopped up and the Outlaw seemed to have gotten his steroid injection system working and now it was time to find out. The launch seemed pretty close from where I was, my eyes were still blurred from the burnouts, I wound up taking a picture of a tree because I couldn’t see. Anyhow, when the score board lit up it was 4.92 to 4.97 in favor of the Thunder Cloud. I think the question of who was whose Daddy was put to rest…for now! As a side note, David the "Big Wig" Wiggins wanted to make a quarter mile test run for grins and giggles so he sauntered up to the line after the last pair ran and let it rip. Now, considering the fact he’d been trying to slow this thing down all weekend I think it was a decent pass. Clicking it off at 900-1000 feet, the yellow '37 busted off a 7.71, not bad for something you can go out and pick up pizza in! >
