Proof that MTN's are good

I would like to know what methods are put in place to proove that an MTN is good or valid in order to protect the buyer? What details and evidence does the buyer need from a seller to proove that an MTN for sale is good and not fake. I am talking about fresh cut MTN's. You can also give me methods for seasoned MTN's as well!
